Summary
The aim of the Annex is to provide design tool/guidance on the application of low energy cooling technologies to buildings. The technologies being addressed include night cooling (natural and mechanical ventilation), ground cooling (air), ground cooling (water), evaporative cooling (direct and indirect), desiccant and evaporative cooling, slab cooling (air), slab cooling (water), displacement ventilation and chilled ceilings.
The main deliverables are:
A review of low energy cooling technologies - see Publications
below: Tools to assist the design of low energy cooling systems.
These will include Case studies providing application examples and feedback on
operation and performance in practice.
Participants: Canada, Finland, France, Germany,
Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States of
America.
- Pre Design Guidance for identifying feasible technologies
- Simplified Design Tools for estimating performance during early design
development
- Detailed Design Tools for optimising a design during the detailed design
phase.
